Oregon Health Authority Removes Closed Formulary from 1115 Waiver

This week the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) removed a closed formulary from the final draft of its 1115 Medicaid waiver application. The Oregon Society of Medical Oncology (OSMO) and Association for Clinical Oncology (ASCO) submitted letters to both the OHA and the Office of Governor Kate Brown urging a removal of the closed formulary. Closed formularies can prevent patients with cancer from getting the best medicine for their treatment. In citing what caused the OHA to remove the closed formulary, a spokesperson said, “Based on the feedback received, OHA is removing its request for a closed formulary from the final application.”
